Holy Ghost!

It has finally arrived! Bruz Da’Vine Revenant is our latest fruited sour ale, and it’s destined to be a classic! Da’Vine Revenant is our Ghost in the Wood fouder-aged Saison which we aged on Marquette grapes.

Made with malted barley, heirloom wheat, and noble hops, it picked up wild yeasts and souring bacteria from the oak fouder. It was then aged on the small purple grapes, which give it an intense fruit-forward flavor and red color.

Western Slope Grapes

Marquette grapes are a hybrid wine grape developed by the University of Minnesota. They most resemble pinot noir, and we got ours from the Western Slope. After de-stemming them and placing them in a fermenting tank, we filled the tank with the fouder beer and let them macerate for several months. The result was a reddish-purple beer with a dense pinkish head. The beer was then keg- and bottle-conditioned to naturally carbonate the beer.

Da’Vine Revenant is acidic and funky with tart, vinous berry aromas and flavors and a touch of oak. Letting the beer warm a bit before drinking it brings out a balanced and complex character that is best savored slowly.

The Revenant in Folklore

The name Da’Vine Revenant references grapes in a takeoff of the word “divine.” A revenant refers to something that returns. In Belgian and French folklore, a revenant was either a ghost or a zombie of some sort. A loose interpretation of “Divine Revenant” is “Holy Ghost.”

This amazing beer will sell out fast, so come into either of the Bruz taprooms (67th & Pecos and Colfax & York) and get yours before it disappears! Santé!
